Our Great Migration Safari starts as we drive to Tarangire National Park. Once you reach the park, start exploring the area with the huge termite mounds and old baobab trees. The park is known for its diverse bird species and large herds of elephants. The Dry season (from June to October) is the best time for wildlife viewing. There are regular sightings of lions, giraffes, warthogs, ostriches, impala, cheetah, buffalo, and baboons. Late in the afternoon, we will drive to Karatu for the overnight. After breakfast, depart for the Maasai Cultural Visit in Ngorongoro and learn about pastoralist traditions, experience traditional dances, and understand their cattle-centered lifestyle. Then, proceed to the famous Olduvai Gorge, one of the most important paleoanthropological sites in the world. Beginning in 1931, excavations by Louis Leakey revealed evidence of early man dating back nearly 2 million years. Visit the Olduvai museum and see bone fossils and fragments of ancient stone tools. This UNESCO World Heritage site provides an intriguing glimpse into the origin and evolution of man in these Serengeti Plains of Africa. Continue to the Central Serengeti/Seronera region, known for year-round predator activity. Afternoon game drive en route to your campsite in Central Serengeti. Early morning breakfast, then depart for full-day game drives at the northern Serengeti near the Tanzania and Kenya border. The great migration of wildebeest is one of the most impressive natural spectacles on earth as hundreds of thousands of wildebeest, zebra, and gazelle make their annual journey around the plains of the Serengeti between Kenya and Tanzania. August is prime time with the beasts attempting to cross the Mara River, a journey made perilous by the steep banks of the river and the hungry crocodiles that lurk in the water. Early morning breakfast and then depart for full-day game drives in Kogatende. One of the most spectacular sights of the migration is when the herds gather to cross the Mara River from July through September. As the herds cross, crocodiles are lying in wait for any feeble ungulates that can’t cope with the strong currents or lose their mothers. Wildlife Focus: Wildebeest river crossings, Nile crocodiles, Lions, cheetahs, and leopards, Elephants and topi antelopes Accommodation: Lobo Camping Site Meals & Drinks All meals included Drinking water (Other drinks not included)
After breakfast, you will begin another full-day game drive. You are likely to view hundreds of the diverse animals, including the “Big Seven” (lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, cheetah, rhino, and African hunting dog) that find their home within the Serengeti’s endless plains. You will also have the chance to view some of the park’s lesser-known, but equally majestic animals, including elands, hyenas, gazelles, crocodiles, giraffes, zebras, monkeys, baboons, hippos, and antelope. Return to Central Serengeti after spending a few days in the northern part of the park bordering the Maasai Mara. This fantastic year-round destination has abundant wildlife, large numbers of big cats, and impressive landscapes of acacia-studded savanna. The Seronera River Valley, located in the south-central region of the park, is one of the most popular areas in the entire reserve. It is rich in lion, leopard, and cheetah – and people often spot all three in one day of game drives. oday is our last game drive in Central Serengeti before we continue to Ngorongoro Conservation Area with a game drive en route, where you have a chance to spot other animals, among them are Buffalo, Zebra, and Wildebeest. The area characterizes a unique setting with diverse scenery, prolific wildlife, and birdlife. It is one of the most unique areas where humans live together in good harmony with the wildlife. After an early breakfast, you will descend over 600 meters into the crater to view wildlife. The 20 km wide Ngorongoro Crater was created by the collapse of a volcano and provided a space for elephants, leopards, rhinos, and lions to roam around the crater rim. It consists of a saline lake, marsh, plains, and forest, and hosts a population of 25,000 animals – including wildebeests, zebras, buffaloes, hyenas, and leopards. The crater also offers an insight into the life of the local population: outside the crater, the Maasai people and their herds of cattle live in a protected area. Late afternoon transfer to Arusha.
